Aneurysm - The Bulging Of Arterial Vessels

An aneurysm is the medical condition where there is a bulge in the blood vessel. An aneurysm is much similar to a bulge on an over inflated inner tube and above 50% of the blood vessels diameter is occupied by such bulging and instantly lead to death. Aneurysm basically occurs on the arteries and those occur on the base on the brain and aorta is more crucial. The degree of bursting of the aneurysm and chances of death is directly proportional to the size of the aneurysm. That is larger the size, the greater is the probability of bursting and instant death of the sufferer.

Tunica intima is that layer of the artery which is in direct contact with the circulation or flow of blood and is mainly composed of endothelial cells and followed by tunica media of elastic tissues and smooth muscles and tunica adventitia of connective tissues. Aneurysm can be differentiated into different types on the basis of several criterions as on fusiform and saccular aneurysm on the basis of the shape of the specific bulging on the arterial vessel. In fusiform aneurysm the bulging is in spindle shape and in case of saccular aneurysm the bulging is in the shape of a small sack.

Aneurysm can also be divided into true and false aneurysm on the basis of the number of layers of the arterial vessels which are infected. In true aneurysm all the tree layers got affected by the bulging that is the tunica adventitia, media and tunica intima all got the outpouching and this is very fatal one. True aneurysm may be resulted due to infections, hypertension or may be congenital and the probability of death due to this is very high. Whereas in case false aneurysm the bulging occurs in the tunica adventitia only and this medical condition is also termed as psedoaneurysm. False or psedoaneurysm may be resulted due to the trauma in the tunica intima and thus is referred as impediment of the percutaneous arterial measures.

Aneurysms can be found in any part of the blood vessels but arterial aneurysm 9is very common. Approximately 95% of the non-intracranial that which are do not occur on the base of the brain come up distal to the renal arterial origin at infrarenal abdominal aorta. This condition is the result of the atherosclerosis. Thoracic aneurysm is another common type of aneurysm involving enlargement of the aortic root and proximal aorta which direct to the condition of aortic insufficiency.

Aneurysm may also occur on the deep vessels of leg basically on the popliteal vessels of knee. Generally aneurysm is the bulging on the arterial vessels but some rare cases of venous aneurysm do occur. Popliteal aneurysm of the knee is the type of venous aneurysm. Though most aneurysms occur in secluded form but may also be associated with linked with disease like (ADPKD) Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. Some stage of syphilis may also lead to aortic aneurysm.

Invasive surgery or the intervention surgery is the most excellent treatment of aneurysm in the brain where clipping and craniotomy like advance techniques utilized for eliminating the curse of aneurysm to the mankind. Though intervention surgery is the best cure it can not use to check all kinds of aneurysm like venous aneurysm where introduction of a foreign material is require. The medial science is still working on the total eradication of aneurysm of all types.
